The purpose of AAUW Georgetown’s scholarship program is to further higher education for young women. Through a competitive process, the branch awards Jesse Daniel Ames Scholarships and W.D. Kelley Foundation Scholarships. Scholarship applicants should be graduating female seniors from Georgetown High School, Eastview High School or Richarte High School.
- The Jesse Daniel Ames Scholarship honors the first President of the AAUW Georgetown Branch (founded in 1923) who was also one of ten charter branch members. Funds are raised by branch members through activities like our annual Duck Race. Read more about Jesse Daniel Ames here.
- The W.D. Kelley Foundation Scholarship is awarded with funds generously donated for the scholarship program by the W.D. Kelley Foundation. We are honored by our long-term partnership with the W.D. Kelley Foundation on scholarships and we appreciate the Foundation’s support for local high school graduates!
The scholarship application is open from January 1 to a date set in February each year. The application may be found in the Georgetown Independent School District’s information about scholarship programs (e.g., search “scholarships”.)
