The Nita Fund

The Nita Hornbeck Endowed Scholarship-Georgetown Branch of AAUW Fund (aka The Nita Fund) provides financial assistance to students at Austin Community College (ACC) through a selection process.  Students apply to the fund via the ACC Foundation website.

The Nita Fund was established in 2024 at the ACC Foundation by a Georgetown branch member to honor Nita McLennon Hornbeck (1929-2024) — a longtime and highly active member in multiple local AAUW branches and at AAUW’s state and national levels.

The fund is managed by the ACC Foundation.  Donations help endow the fund, increasing the level of assistance the fund can provide to students. Gifts to the fund are donations to the ACC Foundation, directed to The Nita Fund, not gifts to AAUW or the AAUW Georgetown Branch.

When making your tax-deductible gift on the ACC Foundation website’s form Make a Donation, select “Other” in the form’s drop down list where you choose what to support with your donation and then type “Nita Hornbeck Endowed Scholarship–Georgetown Branch of AAUW” in the form’s Notes section.
