The Nita Hornbeck Endowed Scholarship – Georgetown Branch of AAUW Fund, aka The Nita Fund, provides financial assistance to students at Austin Community College through a selection process. Students apply to the fund via the ACC Foundation website.
The Nita Fund was established in 2024 at the Austin Community College (ACC) Foundation by a Georgetown branch member to honor Nita McLennon Hornbeck (1929-2024) — a longtime and highly active member in multiple AAUW branches (including service as president of the Austin branch), and at the state and national levels (including service as General Chair of the AAUW National Association Convention). Nita’s primary interest throughout her years of membership was in public policy at the local, state and national levels.
The fund is managed by the Austin Community College (ACC) Foundation. Donations help endow the fund, increasing the level of assistance the fund can provide to students. Gifts to the fund are donations to the ACC Foundation, directed to The Nita Fund, not gifts to AAUW or the AAUW Georgetown Branch.
When making your tax-deductible gift on the ACC Foundation website, select the specific name “The Nita Fund AAUW Georgetown” from the list that will be shown in the Designation Section of Austin Community College’s online Make a Donation form.
